Other small buildings

Clock tower

Large farms used to have bell towers to signal to workers out in the fields that there was food. The bells went out of use as a result of the modernization of agriculture, but even though the practical function of the food bells has disappeared, many are still preserved in their original place today.

Well house

Skåbu Tradisjonsbygg can build all types of buildings depending on your needs. The picture shows a small well house built in the same style as the cabins in a cabin complex. With poles and profiled windscreens, it has become a beautiful and environmentally friendly little house, while the well is well secured.

Roof

Houses and cabins must have a tight roof. Skåbu Tradisjonsbygg AS is happy to replace the roof for you, whether it’s a turf roof or other types of roof. We use natural peat from the mountains for our turf roofs. Naturally, turf roofs need some maintenance, and the grass should be cut once a year. This improves the supply of oxygen and nutrients to the soil. After a couple of years, the soil should be fertilized and possibly limed. If you are unable to do this maintenance yourself, Skåbu Tradisjonsbygg is at your service.

Litter bin shed

With a litter bin shed from Skåbu Tradisjonsbygg, you can do something beautiful around the necessary litter bins. An environmental building – in two senses. Here you see an elaborate version in stavlaft with carved posts and turf on the roof.

The moose tower in Espedalen

Skåbu Tradisjonsbygg has had the pleasure of building the moose tower at Ramstjern, the lake between Skåbu and Espedalen. Sam Hughes of RAM arkitektur as has designed the moose tower. “It has exciting architecture that blends in well with the forest in the area. Nevertheless, you can reach high enough up in the 12 meter high tower to get a unique view of the areas where the moose migrate. As it has done annually for 10,000 years.

The tower is built in wood with large windows to ensure a wide view on all sides. The first floor accommodates three or four beds – with a view. The second floor has a wood-burning stove and a living room. The incinerator toilet is located on the top floor. There is also a covered roof terrace, which will be accessible to everyone, including those who do not rent the moose tower for accommodation. There are external stairs up the tower.
